North Coast River Reports

The Rogue River is at 5,150 CFS and is 4.67 feet.

The Klamath River is at 13,400 and is at 12.45 feet.

Spring Chinook being caught on the Lower Rogue River.

The begining of the Rogue River Spring Chinook season has been really really good!

This is one of the salmon that we have caught on the Klamath River I can not remember a better start in my 12 years of guiding.

It is still very early in the run cycle.

Who knows what will happen the days to come.

Book a Spring Chinook Salmon trip!

The first reported Spring Chinook was taken Wednesday the 4th of March a 21.5# Spring Chinook.

River water temps rose to 48 degrees and for the light pressure catches have been decent with several Springers breaking the 30# class reported.

The Springer bite will be up and down the next couple of weeks with water tempature flucuations.

I have landed some nice spring salmon so far this season with several weeks to go fishing.

The fall season starts in August is the best month on the Rogue River and the Klamath the best month is September.

Book your summer fun fishing trips early as the best dates are taking early.

The Council's adopted for the fall salmon an allocation of 30,800 to the Klamath River Recreational fishery and 30,900 to the Klamath Tribal fisheries.

I am booking trips for king salmon to start in May and June on the Klamath River.

The Rogue River is at 4,100 CFS and is 4.13 feet.

The Klamath River is at 12,000 and is at 12.04 feet.

I will only be on the Rogue River fishing a couple of days this week and will let you know how it was.

I have heard that there are some nice salmon coming in but it is tuff with clear water the salmon are moving through every day now.

I will be down on the klamath River on Saturday for the river clean up that is put on every year by the locals.

The Council's adopted for the fall salmon an allocation of 30,800 to the Klamath River Recreational fishery and 30,900 to the Klamath Tribal fisheries.

The California Fish and Game commission actually sets the river recreational quotas and regulations, and I don't know what they or the Department are considering as far as bag limits.

I have heard that there might be a three adult salmon limit per day.

I am booking trips for king salmon to start in May and June on the Klamath River.

The Smith River is at 2,000 CFS and 7.68 feet.

North Coast River Report

The Chetco river is at 1.64 feet and 674 CFS is the flow.

The Smith River is at 7.29 feet and 1,680 CFS is the flow.

There has been a lack of rain for a long time and the rivers are low and clear.

There are steelhead in the systems you have to fish thinking low clear water conditions and you can find steelhead.

The pressure on the rivers is light this helps me fish under these conditions you work harder for your steelhead and then not I fished these way for years.

There are pockets of the river that are holding steelhead and with the low flow you can work them to get your fish.

Thank you

David

The big Steelhead for us on the Smith River this week was a 15 pound buck.

The big Steelhead for us on the Chetco River was a 12 pound buck.

I do have open dates to fish you in late Jan and Feb I am about half booked up.

Call to book a date early to get the best time this steelhead season.
